Council To Medical Laboratory Technicians Inductees, Shun Professional Rivalry

Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, has advised the newly inductees from Elite International College of Health Science and Technology Zaria, Kaduna  State to  remain diligent and focused in the performance of their duties.  

Registrar of the council, Mr. Tosan Erhabor, made the appeal during the induction ceremony of 51 Medical Laboratory Technician for 2022 Academic Session on Monday in Zaria.

Erhabor, represented by Mr Monday Tapgum, Zonal Director of the council in-charge of Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states, urges the inductees to shun inter-professional rivalry and embrace healthy working relationship with other health professionals.  

He said the concept of induction is to make the students feel a sense of belonging to the profession and to also enable them take a commitment that they are going to practice ethically.

He also expressed the readiness of the council to continue to collaborate with the college to further energise its Department of Medical Laboratory Science with a view to mitigating the dearth of human resources for health.

He added that the council would work with relevant stakeholders to improve the standards of medical laboratory science training in Nigeria in line with international best practices.

The registrar said, “The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria is delighted to associate with the college and its landmark achievements in galvanising 51 students for the induction ceremony’’.

The Chairman, Governing Board of the College, Dr Khalid Kugu, advised the inductees (who are technicians) to seek the guidance and counseling of Laboratory Scientist in the cause of the practice.

He also advised them to advance their studies and to explore the opportunities in the Memorandum of Understanding between the College and Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU) Zaria.

In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Barrister Ibrahim Khalid-Soba a Senatorial Candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Zone 1, Kaduna State commended the college for augmenting government efforts to boost the human resources for health. 

Khalid Soba urged the college management to keep the good academic excellent they were known since in its inception to date.
