Members of Joint Drivers Welfare Association of Nigeria in Lagos State began a 7-day industrial strike on Monday    November 31.

The drivers are protesting against alleged extortion and harassment by touts at motor parks.

The strike caused many passengers to be stranded at bus stops, while some resorted to trekking long distances to their various destinations.

Among the areas affected by the development are Lagos-Abeokuta areas towards Ikorodu where commuters were seen at various bus stops waiting for buses.

However, some section of the bus operators did not join in the strike, claiming that their was no directive from National Union of Road Transport Workers ordering them to embark on strike.
