Christmas Palliatives:  Borno First Lady Doles Out  Gifts To 600 Christian Women, Widows, Others

Borno State  First Lady, Dr. Falmata Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday, reached out to Christian women, widows and vulnerable families  in the society at the Multipurpose Hall of the Government House Maiduguri, ahead of  the Christmas festival. 

She said the gesture is a support to  the Christian families to enable them  have a successful and  fulfilling Christmas celebration next week. 

The gifts distributed include, 25Kg bag of rice, one gallon of vegetable  oil and cash gifts to each beneficiary. 

The First Lady  also wished all the  Christian faithful in the state and beyond a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year in advance. 

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of  Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajjia Zuwaira Gambo, commended the  First Lady for  sustaining the  kind gesture  done to  womenfolk, girls and  the vulnerable in the society over the years, with passion, love and affection towards  promotion of unity, live abd peaceful coexistence among the entire people of the state.

Chairperson of the Borno State Widows Association, Madam Asabe, thanked the first lady for identifying with the Christian community at this festive period.

 She further added, “We want to assure you that by the grace of God, the celebrations will be marked peacefully in the state”.
