Key stakehooders and opinion leaders of Sabon Tasha Ward in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have assured that they would work towards the victory of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for all its candidates to emerge victorious at the February 25 and March 11 elections this year.

They expressed this, when the PDP candidates for Chikun/Kajuru in the general elections held a town hall meeting on Tuesday February 21 at the Wusili Hotels, Sabon Tasha Kaduna.

Speaking on behalf of the youth, Comrade Michael Augustine said that Sabon Tasha belongs to PDP.

“We have started mobilising before now, so victory is ours. By coming to this place, we are assuring you of victory. Sabon Tasha is for you, No Shaking l,” he declared.

Reverend Sunday Ani speaking on behalf of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),  said that from 1999 to date, Chikun/Kajuru has been PDP.

” We want them as they enter, they should do something that will make us remember  that we have been there for them. Sabon Tasha lacks good roads unlike other areas. No Shaking has been a good politician, he has not been decamping up and down, even when others left, he remained with PDP, so we would always support you in Sabon Tasha,” he said.

Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) representative, Malam Adamu Abdulkadir in his remarks, said that No Shaking has touched several lives in the constituency, without bias.

He explained that himself and others have  benefited  from Hajj exercise courtesy of No Shaking.

Malam Abdulkadir said that as a result of the goodwill, they are looking forward to celebrating with No Shaking when results are announced on Sunday.

Gabriel Gani on behalf of traditional title holders, said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) brought about widespread hunger and poverty.

He said the situation was worsened by insecurity which prevents people from going to farms.

He appealed for PDP to come to power and help develop Sabon Tasha  from its present state of neglect.

In his remarks, Member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Honourable Umar Barde Yakubu aka No Shaking,

said that Sabon Tasha is a large ward and he appreciates all the support he has been getting.

He lamented that the roads are bad and some areas lack pipe borne water, blaming APC for the neglect of Sabon Tasha.

He said that during PDP, there were  traditional  institutions who were much respected, however APC came and sacked some of them.

He assured that  if PDP comes on board, civil servants and traditional rulers removed, will be recalled.

He further explained that with autonomy of LGAs, they would be able to construct roads and other infrastructure.

“The LGA funds from the FG  are being depleted by state governments and leaving them with only a little to pay salaries.

“I wrote to FG under ecological funds and they have come to Ungwan Bulus which is under Sabon Tasha Ward, to ensure the erosion threat there is contained,,” he announced.

No Shaking told the gathering that he was not there to make promises, but assured them that by voting PDP from bottom to top, the area will witness several development.

As part of the activities, the PDP Campaign Council for Sabon Tasha Ward was inaugurated.

They were tasked to go from house-to-house to canvass votes for the PDP.

Also, several decampees from APC and other parties were welcomed into the PDP.

Some of those spotted at the town hall, included, Candidate for Chikun Constituency in Kaduna State House of Assembly, Honourable Garba Madami, Chairman Chikun Local Government Council, Honourable Salasi Musa, member representing Chikun Constituency at the State Assembly, Honourable Chawazah, amongst several others.
