In a bid to encourage agricultural output and strengthened education in Kaduna state, the Honourable Member representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, has trained at least 100 farmers in his constituency.

The empowerment cuts across the 22 wards in Chikun/Kajuru LGAs and the three major political parties, namely All Progressives Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party  (LP), with the aim of carrying everybody along to discourage politics of bitterness that would slow down sustainable growth and development in the constituency.

On the path of education, branded exercise books were also flagged-off and set to be distributed to selected schools in the two LGAs.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ekene said the program is to reaffirm his commitment to his campaign promises to touch the lives of the people positively through quality representation.

Represented from the constituency office, the Director General, (DG) to Hon. Ekene, Deacon Ezekiel Samuel, disclosed that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from the three political parties based on those that needed the training and machines the most with the assistance of their party executives.

He urged them not to sell the implements, but should take advantage of it and make food available in the constituent, while noting that the door of the Honourable Member is always open for advice on better ways to govern the people.
“We are here because we want to touch lives with things that will add meaning to the lives of people and the gathering is timely. We have spraying machines and chemicals for 100 farmers cut from the 22 wards of Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency so that they can go and start with it for their farming activities.
“The Hon. Member intimated us on the program and asked us to go and plan. So we called on the Chairmen of the three major political parties and asked them to go and fish out those that are in dire need of the equipment and not those that will go and sell it.
“The exercise books is also for the schools. We have gone round to see the Education Authority in the schools across the constituency and asked them to give us the template to use in sharing the books. We are not going to give them the books to share. We will sit down with them, get the selected schools, go with them and administer the books to the children so that it can go down to those who really need the book.” He said.
Remarking also on behalf of the selected schools that will benefit from the project, the Head of Education Authority in Kajuru LG, Mrs. Joy Bulus Simon, said “We really appreciate the Hon. Member for such a wonderful gesture being given to the children.
“Democracy is all about representing the people and we can see proper representation being put in place today.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the event, one of the beneficiaries from Kujama ward, Mr. Joseph Samuel said that he is very happy to be counted as a beneficiary of the farm implements, noting that there is no better time he needed the empowerment than now.
Another beneficiary from the ruling APC, Mallam Saidu Ahmed Yahaya said “we will continue to pray for him to succeed. I have never received this kind of empowerment before now, I am very excited to be among the beneficiaries.”
