Chess: Team Kaduna Demolishes Team Kogi At Ongoing NYG Asaba 2023

The day 2 of the chess event at the ongoing National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba,  saw Team Kaduna defeating Team Kogi boys to a perfect score of 4-0.
With that result, Team Kaduna is now having a culminating of 2.5 points after 4th round.
Team Kaduna would  be hoping to trash Team Edo as they are  paired in the 5th round.
So far, they have won Lagos and  Kogi,  and drew with Rivers and narrowly lost to Team Ogun after a prolonged mental duel.
On the female side, the day 2 saw Team Kaduna trashing team Kano with a whooping 4-0, stalemated with Team Bauchi with 2-2, but lost to Team Edo.
The female team has 1.5 points culminating so far after three rounds.
Coach Tahir Mohammed who led the young stars was very excited about his young boys and girls performance so far, saying that the kids and thier parents  put in a lot to have reached to this stage.
He said the kids come  after school and and spend  a whole day each  Saturday,  training at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.
A parent of one the players who is an ardent supporter of Kada City Chess Academy (KADACCA) poured out accolades to the association’s secretary,  Malam Garba Shehu for being a pure professional in handling the welfare and administrative aspects of the team, making it easy for the technical crew to monitor the kids before, during and after games. 
He also praised Coach Tahir for the sacrifices he is making towards the growth and development of chess in Kaduna.
Speaking further,  he said the wins so far, are all valid because the kids really prepared for this game.
“The kids come to the stadium almost every day for training, they also took part in several competitions within and outside Kaduna through the support of the Kaduna State Chess Association Board members, led by Navy Capt. Musa Abdullahi Rtd,” he said.  
He also extended  appreciation to the immediate past Secretary of the  association, Gloria Amedu for laying a very solid foundation that’s being leveraged upon by the new secretary.
