Chairman Inaugurates Kaduna Chess Association Board

Kaduna State Chess  Association Chairman, Navy Captain Musa Abdullahi on Tuesday, inaugurated the board of the association.

The members include, Dr Abdullahi Mohammed (Vice Chairman),  Cdre Samson Ojediran (Patron), and Gloria Ahmadu (Secretary). 

Others members are,  Udoji James,  Sunday Bello (Coach) Demola Ali, Ayodele Sunday and Zakari Isah (media officer).

Abdullahi asked the board members to join hands with him in moving the sport forward not only in the state, but  the entire federation.

“My strong desire is to move the chess association to greater heights join me in the quest to move chess forward, not only in the state, the country but around the globe” he said.

According to the chairman, what they are expected to do is to give back to the society.

” Together with my board members,  we will ensure that chess materials are provided for the players. 

He said regular tournaments will be organised to test and sharpen the skills of the players including the sponsorship of tournaments outside the state.

” The coaches have a lot of work to do because together we must train, guide and support these players to become better in character, conduct, discipline and playing strength. 

He urged the players to study and work hard to outshine colleagues in the game.

” I believe the Nigerian chess scene is revolutionising  and there might be opportunities at the both national and international scenes to showcase your prowess. 

” Always remember that hard work would drive the Kaduna chess scene to greater heights. 

Also speaking,  the Kaduna State Commissioner for Sports, Dr. Idris Nyam congratulated the board members and tasked them to  work hard for the improvement of the game.

Represented by a Deputy Director,  Florence Yori, he urged them to involve more youth in the game for its progress and development.

” Chess is one of the association that sponsors activities without being funded and we give kudos to them.

” We urge them to involve more players to take away youth from the ills of the society. 

 In a response, Vice Chairman of the association, Abdullahi Mohammed said  they were grateful for the appointment on the board, assuring that they would be committed to development of chess in the state.
