The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kaduna State Chapter, has constituted a campaign team for the by-election into the State House of Assembly for Chikun Constituency.
The by-election is as a result of the death of the member-elect for Chikun State constituency in the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Madami Garba Madami, who received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the general election in 2023, but was unable to attend the inauguration of the State Assembly on June 13, 2023 due to the illness that eventually claimed his life.
The Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Uba Sani, Dr Manzo Maigari, who inaugurated the campaign team on Monday in Kaduna, expressed confidence that the candidate, Jesse David Tankon, has the support of the electorate in the coming election slated for February, 2024, assuring of the victory of the candidate in the coming election.
He explained that Chikun Constituency is so strategic in the politics of Kaduna, adding that the constituency is a metropolitan in nature that makes up all the ethnic groups in the state and enjoined the electorate to vote the APC candidate, who is a youth to power.
He said, “The candidate is a youth and has the determination to bring the necessary change needed in the local government. If voted into power, l strongly believed that he has all it takes to bring the dividends of democracy to bear in Chikun Constituency and ensure the youths are carried along in the affairs of the Governor Uba Sani-led administration that is all inclusive.”
He noted that with the council chairman as an APC member, all councillors and other stakeholders in the team, the candidate has a bright future in the coming by-election in the constituency of coming out victorious.
As a youth, he expressed the belief that the candidate if voted, would connect easily with the younger generation, believing that the unity shown by all members of the party and other stakeholders in the local government during the primary election to the candidature of Jesse David Tanko is a clear manifestation that he would come out victorious in the coming by-election.
The APC candidate, Jesse David Tanko, called on other aspirants that contested the primary with him to come together for the victory of the party in the coming by-election, saying that with the support he has received so far is an indication of the victory of the party in the coming election.
He said that he has the aspiration to ensure quality representation by carrying the people along on government activities, assuring that he will be a chief servant to his people if elected.
He hopes to ensure “hope renewed” and also ensure “Chikun trust fund” by helping the youth in the educational sector by ensuring that they excel in their educational pursuits.
On social welfare, he promised to empowered the youths and women in order to ensure the youths are engaged in doing things for a living.
