The Executive Secretary (ES), of Borno Geographic Information Service (GOGIS), Engr. Adam Bukar Bababe, has urged members of the National Automobile and Technician Association (NATA) to unite for the advancement of the union.

The BOGIS boss made this call while addressing them in his office, regarding emerging issues in the union that led to the formation of a new association called Borno Motor Mechanics and Allied Workers.

A statement issued and signed by Halima Abatcha Jarawa, SA Media  to Executive Secretary, BOGIS made available to newsmen on Wednesday,  said Engr. Bababe expressed dismay over the leadership crisis in the union, which prompted some members to establish a new union.

He described this development as embarrassing and called on them to set aside differences and personal interests, emphasizing the importance of reconciliation for the progress of the union.

While reiterating government’s commitment to building another mechanic village soon, the Executive Secretary said that the government recognizes only one union, NATA, and urged them to unite to enjoy the benefits of democracy under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum.

Engr. Bababe however, issued a warning to the union, stating that if they do not occupy the Mechanic village by Friday, January 12, 2024, government will take decisive measures against any mechanic seen around the three units of Moduganari Bypass, Tashan Kano, and Damboa Road, pointing out that, they had been served notice to vacate the area to the new mechanic village since last year.

The Grand Patron of the Association, Engr. Sadu Abdullahi expressed sadness over the problems and stressed the urgent need for unity, peace, and tolerance among members.

He emphasized that a harmonious working relationship is essential for the success and progress of the association and urged the union members to come together, resolve their differences amicably, and work towards a common goal.

The ES noted that this measure will ensure the prosperity and reputation of the State Chapter of National Automobile and Technician Association (NATA).
