Best Uniuyo Graduating Students To Receive N200,000, Alumni Pledges

The University of Uyo Alumni Association has pledged to award a cash prize of N200,000 each graduating year to best students across the faculties of the university.

President of the association, Barr Onofiok Luke said that the decision was taken during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital last week.

Luke explained that gesture is to encourage academic excellence among students of the institution through scholarship awards and prizes for best graduating students in all the faculties of the university.

“By this arrangement, the best graduating student in each faculty is to be awarded a cash prize of N200,000 each graduating year.” Luke said.

He added that the Alumni Association pledged to continue to give back to the University as well as well as initiate programmes that will create positive impact for members and students.

According to Luke, to actualize the Association’s vision for the University of Uyo, NEC set up some strategic committees, namely: National Legal Council, Convocation Committee, Budget Committee, Education Development Committee, Diaspora Development Committee, Project Development Committee, Sports Development Committee and Welfare Committee.

The Uniuyo Alumni NEC also appointed Mrs. Amayo Atope as Secretary General and Mr. Sunday Umanah as Assistant Secretary General. This followed the resignation of the former Secretary and the demise of the former Assistant Secretary.

The University of Uyo Alumni Association congratulated one of its own, Pastor Umo Eno on his emergence as Governor of Akwa Ibom State and also felicitated with other members who are elected or appointed into various positions across the country.

The association called on Alumni members to be prepared to join in the task of making the University of Uyo better and bigger.
