The Commissioner of Police, Benue
State Command, CP. George Chuku has ordered the deployment of police officers across the state in readiness for Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The Police boss gave the directive while meeting with all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders at the State Police Command, Makurdi.
He warned all officers to ensure security of lives and property within their area of responsibility, by ensuring that they secure all entry and exit routes through patrol and monitoring.
The Benue Police boss advised them to constantly carry out intensive motorised patrols of government facilities, religious centres, parks and densely populated areas where people go for celebrate.
Speaking further, the Police Commissioner who warned seriously against the sale and use of ‘Knockouts’,’ called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, guidance to warn their children/ wards to refrain from such practices.
Displaying masquerades during the festivities are, the Benue Police Command advised to be very careful so that they won’t infringe on other people’s rights.
In a statement made available to New Nigerian in Makurdi and signed by SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, assured residents of Command commitment to secure the state while providing emergency Police numbers for ease of communication.
