Benue  Police Command Arrests  Suspected Gun Manufacturers

As part of efforts to clamp down on proliferation of fire arms in Benue State, the State Police Command has intensified intelligence gathering on arm manufacturers, leading to the arrest of a suspected gun manufacturer.

In an interview with newsmen in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the Police Commissioner,  Emmanuel Adesina said a  team of Operation Zenda JTF invaded an arm manufacturing hideout at Amahundu, Nanev, Kwande Local Government Area and arrested the  suspects.

The commissioner further said that the following persons were arrested,  Terfa aka “Gadafi” 24 yrs

Aondonaugen Tse-aa 36 yrs and

Torkuma Iorlaha 27 years.

Others are, Hangeior Atim 25 years Tyav Terwase 35 years,

Gundu Gbagbogum 50 years,

Terwase Shimashan 20 years and

Terese Terver aka “Gbatiir” 18 years.

According to the Benue State Police Commissioner, the suspects are all of various addresses in Kwande Local Government Area and Adinga Ramseydihno 33 years from Republic of Cameroon.

He said the suspects confessed to be involved in manufacturing, local sales and export of arms. 

Exhibits recovered from them include; eight (8) Barretta pistols under fabrication, one (1) fabricated AK47 rifle, ten (10) AK47 live ammunition, five (5) Barretta Pistol ammunition, four (4) welding gas cylinders and other fabricating materials. 

The Benue State Police boss pointed out that Investigation is ongoing to unravel the source of their raw material and other possible hideouts.
