The Benue State Government has described the press conference by members of the National Assembly (NASS)  from the state, casting aspersion on the governor as an inglorious action  capable of pitching the governor against other party members in the state who are fully in support of his administration.

In a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula made available to journalists in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, the State Government said it is very unfortunate that members of the National Assembly of the same party will go extra miles just to run down the governor.

The statement said, the state government decries such attitude and the actions are unacceptable “an infamous outing of some APC National Assembly members led by Senator Titus Zam  is meant to demean the governor instead of focusing on issues that would bring about more development to the state.

” We can say it with abundant confidence that the APC National Assembly members who participated in that press conference must have partially sold their conscience and allowed what is remaining to completely blindfold their touch with reality in Benue State”

The State Government said it was quite tragic that Senator Zam who could not win election in his ward and local government area of Gwer-West, only got saved by the popularity of the Governor ‘the yes father movement’ in two major local government areas of Gboko and Makurdi to clinch the Benue North- West senatorial seat.

According to the statement, it is very unfortunate that the same beneficiary of the Governor’s popularity would turn round to lead the infamous group to run down a man who has changed the negative narratives in the state, instead of focusing on beneficial issues of development of the senatorial  distract.

The statement  described as more laughable when Senator Zam and his co- travellers insinuated that Reverend Father Alia came into a stronger APC during elections, insisting that Zam and his cohorts should recall that the party had barely managed to get one National Assembly seat out of 14 as well as gotten less than four out of 30 members in the Benue State Assembly in the 2019 general elections.

He said it has equally come to the attention of government ahead of the Supreme Court judgement that the vicious intents of the sponsors of the recent malicious press conference was to paint the governor in the worst colour before the president and leadership of the party at the national level for them to withdraw support.

The  Benue State Government called on all Nigerians and people of good conscience  to ignore allegations of non- performance explaining that if six  months were enough to build heaven, the National Assembly members  have not rented constituency offices in their constituencies, insisting that they must also show their records of stewardship at the National Assembly  as  those who go to equity, do so with clean hands.
