Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has assured that his administration would look into the possibility of jerking up salaries and wages of emirs and district heads across the state.
“We will look inward if we can or if we can afford, so that we can improve your salaries and wages, to put your eyes off the glares of other things that are coming and impacting negatively on our security”, he told the traditional rulers.
The governor, at the free distribution of cars to district heads and council chairmen in Bauchi, said the provision of vehicles to them is in fulfillment of an earlier promise he made sometimes last year about this Ramadan period during breaking of fast.
Senaror Bala implored  the emirs and district heads to deepen their monitoring and evaluation, an area he said the Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Farouk is known for, revealing, “We are also establishing a very robust security architecture in the state”.
He explained that following the recent passage of a bill by the State House of Assembly, the state government is about to employ over 2,000 youth to complement what the government is doing at the traditional level, and equally compliment the works of  regular security agencies, the police and the SSS.
“The rule of engagement must be approved by the police, the SSS and the military so that there is no conflict in what we are doing, vigilante sometimes can be ill and unsecure if it is not well regulated, we are very conscious of that, what we can leave as a legacy is a legacy of infrastructure and services, and security”.
The governor added, “If I can produce drones in all the emirates where I will be monitoring from the comfort of my room, I would do that by the grace of God so that we will know what is happening”.
He further told the emirs, “What we are providing today is just a token, you have seen what we are doing to renovate the residences of our district heads and our village heads. The person standing here (apparently referring to himself) is your son, and a son of a district head. I know how hard it is to discharge that responsibility.
Governor Bala assured the traditional rulers that the state government is poised to renovate all palaces of emirs and district heads across the state before the exit of his first term tenure in office, stressing, “we have gone very far in renovating or building the palaces of our district and village heads
