There are strong indication that before midnight Wednesday, the Cross River Commissioner for Water Resources might be released according Mr. Jude Ngaji,  State Security Adviser to governor Ayade has said.
He said “we are working very hard  to ensure the release of Mr Gabriel Oji, who was abducted by unknown gunmen on Palm Sunday.
Ngaji told New Nigerian Online, that the abducted Commissioner would be hopefully released  before midnight Wednesday.
Although he refused to give details,  adding the abduction was beyond a regular kidnapping, but security agencies were working to secure Oji’s release.
He also debunked reports that N100 million ransom was demanded by the kidnappers.
He said, “by the end of today or latest tomorrow he is going to be out. When he is out I will address the media. The whole thing is beyond mere kidnapping as is reported. There are a lot of issues that are surrounding the matter, including even domestic issues. It was not a case of normal kidnapping.
He said “normal kidnapping cannot be a situation where a kidnapper comes into your house, pick you up and go away. It was not in a restaurant that he was abducted”.
“I am not aware of any N100 million ransom. Our position as a government is that we don’t pay ransom. Police authorities and other security agencies are doing their work and we are working towards his release between today and tomorrow and after that we will talk to the media about the development.
