The youth wing of the Sokoto State Market Traders Association has denounced their membership of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and have pledged allegiance to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing unfulfilled promises on the part of the APC

The traders who dumped APC in large numbers at the Centre for History and Bureau, Sokoto, cited unfulfilled promise by federal government as the reason for taking such an action.

They insisted that the assistance promised to victims of the fire that ravaged parts of the Sokoto Central Market early last year by a federal government delegation that visited the state had not been redeemed.

One of their leaders, Shuaibu Yellow, noted that, “This unfulfilled pledge is one of the major reasons we are leaving the party.”

In related news, over a hundred members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were also reportedly received into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State.

The defectors were received into the party when thousands of party loyalists trooped out to give a warm welcome to ADC presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.
