Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah has urged  security agencies to immediately fish out and duly prosecute those responsible for alleged assault and battering of a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of North East Zone,  Professor Abdullahi Zuru.

Zuru former Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto and FUT, Minna, was seen in a widely circulated video on social media over the weekend,  bloodied and in a dehumanizing condition after being beaten and stripped to his inner wears.

Na’Allah in a statement expressed shock and disappointment over the inhumane treatments the professor was made to go through in the course of service to the country.

The Senator described Prof. Zuru as a man of immense integrity and unquestionable reputation, built over many years in the academia and public service.

He however, expressed hope and optimism in the determination of the electoral umpire in ensuring all those responsible in the dehumanizing acts of the university teacher were brought to book and made to bear the full weight of the law.

“Prof Zuru is one unique Zuru person who has built his reputation over a long period of time.

“He is one of the most decent persons I have come across in Zuruland, quiet and reserved and if this will happen to him in the service of his fatherland, nothing short of identifying and prosecuting those responsible for that will assuage us.

“I am happy to convey to you that my contact so far has indicated INEC’s resolve to ensure that and we will give them all necessary assistance to achieve that, so far prof is stable and taking a rest at the moment and will be fine,” he added.
