Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received commendation from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Kaduna State Branch with a pledge from the lawyers to support the anti-graft agency in its effort to rid the nation of corruption and corrupt practices.
The commendation and pledge were made by Chairman NBA Kaduna Branch Barrister Godwin Ochai while on a courtesy visit to Zonal Command of the Commission in Kaduna on Thursday August 10, 2023.
Mr. Ochai said EFCC and NBA had been long time partners in progress in the fight against corruption which he noted must be gotten rid of if the country must grow and develop economically and politically.
The NBA Boss in particular praised the Legal and Prosecution Department of the Command for its doggedness and effectiveness and above all, seamless cooperation with the Bar.
He further stated that the visit was to strengthen the existing relationship between the EFCC and the NBA in the fight against corruption.
In response, the acting Commander, Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC Aisha Abubakar expressed her appreciation for the visit and solicited more synergy and support of NBA in advancing the good work of the commission towards eradicating economic and financial crimes including corruption.
She further urged NBA to always verify claims made by their clients and members against the EFCC in order not to be misled.
In his remarks Head Legal and Prosecution of the agency Nasiru Salele, also thanked the branch for the visit saying it was the first of its kind in the Command.
