Anambra Assembly Decries Murder Of Its Member, Calls On Soludo To Beef Up Security

The Anambra State House of Assembly has expressed deep shock over the gruesome murder of one of its members, Hon Okechukwu Okoye by unknown gunmen.
Okoye who was abducted on Sunday May 15, 2022 while returning from a village meeting was a lawmaker representing Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s constituency, Aguata 2.
A statement by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon Uche Okafor described the lawmaker’s death as unfortunate and heart breaking.
He described him as very articulated and one of the outspoken members, saying that the legislative institution has lost a quality member.
The Speaker recalled  the deceased sense of humour, hospitality and commitment to duty among other positive attributes, saying that late Okoye would be missed in the House. 
While urging the governor not to relent in his efforts towards achieving maximum security of lives and property of Ndi Anambra, he said, “I call on well meaning citizens to join hands with the governor in that direction. 
“I commiserate with Okoye’s immediate family, his kinsmen, governor Soludo and the entire Isuofia on behalf of members of the State House of Assembly and the entire legislature.
“I enjoin them to take solace in the fact that the short but eventual life of Hon Okoye was full of quality service to God and humanity.”
