The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu has been commended for coming up with a nine-point agenda for salvaging the state from collapse.
According Amb. Dr. Malami Shehu, the Ambassador at Large of International Human Rights Commission to African Region, the nine point agenda which include: security, religion, education, youth development, economic group amongst others, will pull the state from the brink to a very viable state.
Shehu noted that from all available statistics, Sokoto State is ranked as the state with the highest poverty rate in Nigeria.
He then urged the governor to intensify efforts to eradicate this anomaly
Amb. Shehu also called on prominent citizens of the state to join hands together with the governor in making sure that the nine-point agenda is realised and fully implemented.
Furthermore, he prayed that Almighty God grants the governor the strength and will to implement the agenda to the letter.
Responding, Governor Aliyu assured Amb Shehu that he is committed to reversing the negative indices that portrayed the state with highest poverty rate.
He also assured that his nine-point agenda would set the state among the most competitive in the country.
