Alleged Internet Fraud: EFCC Arrests Eight Suspects In Uyo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),  Uyo Zonal Command has apprehended eight persons suspected to be involved in internet fraud.

In a statement by the EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale on Wednesday, the suspects were arrested on Thursday, May 2, 2024,  at Osongama Extension following an actionable intelligence.

Oyewale listed the items recovered from the suspects to include: seven laptops; 13 smart phones; two wrist watches and one router.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The statement read, “Operatives of Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC on Thursday May 2, 2024 arrested eight suspected  internet fraudsters in an early morning sting operation at Osong Ama Extension in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

“They were arrested following credible intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet fraud.  

“Items recovered from them include, seven laptops; 13 smart phones; two wrist watches and one router.”
