The stage is now set for the one-day Zaria Athletics Grand Prix at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria sport complex pitch.
One of the organizers and sponsors of the meet, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau said the Grand Prix in Zaria has come to stay.
According to him, the meet on the July 2, will be used to prepare athletes from all over Nigeria for the National trials coming up in Benin on July 5, and World Championship in Budapest from the August 19 to 27.
The meet Director, Mr. Sunday Adeleye said just like the Zaria Prix in March, great performance is expected from the athletes.
In his words, “their exposure and continuous nurturing will help the nation to do better than its 18th position in the last World Athletics Championship in Oregon.”
The last Zaria Prix saw great performance from young athletes like Hajara Haruna, Ayenuro Taiye, Salisu Ibrahim, Oche Emmanuel, Ogazi Samuel and Oshiokpu Grace.
