All Eligible Voters In Akwa Ibom Would Be Registered, INEC Assures

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that every eligible voter in Akwa Ibom State would be registered before the end of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
Mr. Mike Igini, the state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr. Mike Igini who gave the assurance while unveiling the new Direct Data Capture Machine (DDCM) at the INEC office, Uyo said even those in the riverine areas would not be left out.
He said that only those who have attained 18years and above would be captured and urged those who have not yet registered to avail themselves of the ongoing exercise and be registered.
The REC explained that the new DDCM acquired by the commission and distributed to the different states were designed to make the continuous registration exercise less time consuming.
Noted the difficulties identified nationwide, Mr. Igini led to introduction of a rotation process to be able to capture as many people as possible.
“The Continuous Voter Registration exercise as we continue to maintain is only for those who have attained the age of 18 and above and for those who have registered in previous exercises but were not properly captured,” he said.
He called on parents and guardians in the state to ensure that your children and wards are not abused by allowing politicians have them captured while under age.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner urged those who registered since
April 27, 2017 when the CVR exercise began that their Permanent Voter
Cards (PVCs) which have been produced would be distributed to them as soon Abuja distributes them to the various states.
He explained that the idea of allowing long period of time for the registration demonstrated the commission’s commitment to ensuring that those eligible to vote were not left out.
