The Akwa Ibom State Government is allegedly said to have ordered the arrest a subpoened witness for Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the ongoing Governorship Tribunal in Uyo, Mr Daniel Akpan for giving credible evidences against Mr Umo Eno’s UNIUYO alleged graduation and certification.

Akpan, who is a staff of the Registrar’s Office  University of Uyo (UNIUYO) contrary to earlier controversial submissions by the Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Ime Akpabio last week Friday that he was not a staff of the university, had while appearing before the Tribunal, tendered his pay slip up to the month of May, 2023 as well as tendered his IPPIS letter, employment letter among other documents.

It would be recalled that the witness had earlier informed the tribunal that Mr. Umo Eno has a fake 1998 WAEC certificate

In the witness box, Mr. Daniel Akpan confirmed same with relevant documents backing up his claims.

The overwhelming evidence tendered by the Administrative Officer of the university had rattled Umo Eno’s team made up of Paul Usoro, SAN, Offiong Offiong, SAN Emmanuel Enoidem Esq leading them to trigger an extra judicial plot to arrest, torture and maim the witness outside the premises of the tribunal.

It’s alleged that Barr Emmanuel Enoidem was allegedly furious and desperately making phone calls to government agents from the court, asking them to send in security to arrest the UNIUYO staff.

At the time of filing the report, there was a heavy presence of security personnel armed to the teeth and checking every vehicle going out of the court premises at Wellington Way end, Uyo.

Mr Akpan earlier told the tribunal that he had received several calls of threat to his life from unknown persons, escaped assassination attempts when it was clear that he was to appear at the tribunal Tuesday June 20, 2023.

Upon a formal complaint by  the petitioner’s lawyers led by Ahmed Raji, SAN to the tribunal  led by Justice Adeleye who directed that a formal letter from the tribunal be given to the Subpaened witness Mr Daniel Akpan against any form of intimidation or arrest by the police under any guise

Hearing went on thereafter, with other witnesses to enable the petitioner, Senator Bassey Albert, CON (OBA)/YPP to close their defense.
