The price of commodities  at Kano local markets is gradually dropping as monitored by our correspondent,  who visited some local markets recently, ahead of the month of Ramadan.

Few weeks ago, the price of food items and other essential commodities sky rocketed which resulted in  different protests across the country due to the inflation on food items.

New Nigerian visited Badume Market in Bichi Local Government Area, Dambatta, Rimin Gado, Shuwaki in Kunchi Local Government Area and Dawanau International Food Market  and gathered that the price of each food item  dropped and was affordable to consumers.

Furthermore, the food items vendors disclosed that the inflation is now down and from all indications, following  measures taken by the federal and states governments, which helped greatly in the price drop.

They assured that the price may continue to fall due to the opening of stores that were stocked by  hoarders.

Speaking to journalists at Badume Market, Malam Lawan Adam, one of the food items vendors, stated that, “removing fuel subsidy has been one of the reasons that everything became so expensive but if the federal government will return the subsidy, we are certain that everything will crash and become more affordable to consumers,” he emphasized.

All those who spoke to  the press,  disclosed that government is now trying its best to control inflation especially on food items, therefore, there may be a good price  drop on every type of food items.
