ABU VC Lauds Sardauna  Foundation Indigent Students Scholarship Scheme

The Vice Chancellor Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Kabiru Bala has commended the management of Sardauna Memorial Foundation for sustaining the legacies of Sir, Ahmadu Bello indigent Students Educational Support.

He stated this when he received Chairman Advisory Committee on Indigent Scholarship in his office on Monday.

Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, he  said he was  elated with the indigent scholarship scheme by the foundation.

He said, ABU has the lowest school fees among the Nigerian universities.

According to him, ABU has regards for its students, as they always consider them first.

He commended the foundation for the giant stride and hopes the benefiting students will utilize the fund effectively.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman Advisory Committee on Indigent Scholarship, Alhaji Muhammad Munir Jafaru (Madakin Zazzau) told the Vice Chancellor that they were in the university for the indigent students screening exercise.

He said, the indigent scholarship is part of the foundation’s mandate as far as the founding father’s mission is concerned.

Speaking to journalists at the commencement of the exercise, the Director General of the foundation,  Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar said, supporting indigent students with scholarship will assist them to settle for their studies.

He said, the foundation’s focus is on science based courses, in order to fill in the gap created between the North and the South.

The DG added that, 200 indigent students will benefit from the scholarship award as each will receive N100.000 up to the completion of his programme.

According to him, the screening exercise is taking place in six centres across the Northern States, including the FCT.

Among the entourage of the Advisory committee Chairman,  included,  Dr. Haruna Mohammed Jumare (Maradin Zazzau), Director Finance and Administration of the foundation.
