ABU Matriculates 6,322 Post Graduate Students For 2021/2022  Session

 Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria has matriculated 6,322  Postgraduate students and 5002 others for the 2021/2022 academic session for various postgraduate programmes. 

Speaking at the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted postgraduate students yesterday at the school’s auditorium, Main Campus the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Sani Abdullahi said the fresh students should consider themselves lucky to be among the successful ones and ensure that they make best use of the opportunity by working hard and respecting the University rules and regulations to enable them to complete their programme on time.

He said their cardinal purpose is not only to equip them with  education, but with the spirit of intellectual enquiry, curiosity and resilience also to prepare them to be morally upright.

Prof. Sani admonished the matriculating students to shun all forms of social vices such as cultism, indecent dressing, examination malpractice, sexual misbehavior, fraudulent acts and any antisocial behaviour that could mar their future.

In his message, the ABU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, urged the students to concentrate on their studies and research so that they graduate within the stipulated period.

Prof. M.Y. Fatihu, the Dean Students Affairs Division, said one of the Division’s roles was to serve the welfare of the students, guide and protect them from all forms of difficulties.

The Director, Counseling and Human Development Centre of the University, Dr. Sa’adatu Makarfi, said that the Centre plays roles of preventing, rehabilitating as well as growth and development for both staff and students. 

The Centre, according to her, also assists students in their research, scholarship, accommodation and entreprenuership.

Dr. Alex Otu, who represented the Director, University Health Services, mentioned all kind of services the hospital offers to students and the University community.

The Chief Security Officer of the University, Malam Ashiru T. Zango, said the main duty of the Division was to protect the students and their properties in the two campuses, saying that the doors of the division are open for all necessary security information that will enhance peace and harmony in the university.

Malam Rabiu Samaila the university’s Registrar, administered the matriculation Oath and called on the matriculating students to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution.
