Over 200 women and youth have been inaugurated under the Beekeepers Welfare Association Shika in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The association is an umbrella of Beekeeping Extension Society who source funding of $10,000 from the United Nations 1% development funds for 200 youths and women for Shika Community.
Speaking on the importance of beekeeping business, Malam Idris Mohammed Barau said, worldwide, bee keeping is very good to health.
Barau charged members of the Warfare Association to embrace bee business for self employment and sustainability.
Idris Barau said he wants to see his immediate community benefit from the training of how to commercialize their bee business as a big venture.
The Institute for National Animal Production and Research Institute (NAPRI) Shika is in collaboration with the Bee Keeping Extension Society with support for land to place their honey production equipment.
Mal. Umar Farouq Idris who is the Secretary of Bee Keeping Extension Society, said more than 150 housewives, girls and youth are participating in the programme.
Umar Farouq Idris also explained that a new association is specifically for the development of beekeeping has been launched.
In his remarks, Alhaji Abubakar Bala who represented All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship candidate, acknowledged the efforts put in place the beekeeping facilities in the Zamfarawa Community in Shika area.
Bala advised the beneficiaries of this noble project to make sure they utilize it for the benefit of the community.
