Two Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Bauchi State Command, two vigilantes, a suspected kidnapper and one other person were said to have been killed Wednesday in a ghastly motor accident at Dabe Village along Bauchi-Darazo road in Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the State.
Although the cause of the accident was not immediately known as of the time of filling this report, the driver of the vehicle was said to have been conveying two Police Officers, two vigilante, two kidnap suspects and one other person from Soro Police Division to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bauchi State Police Headquarters in Bauchi when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the accident in a release made available to newsmen in Bauchi Thursday, said: “On the 13/4/2016 (Wednesday) at about 1300hrs (1:00pm), there was a lone fatal motor vehicle accident involving a green Vectra with registration number GJW 446 XA driven by one Audu Garba, male, of Soro Town”.
The PPRO stated that “the accident occurred at Dabe Village along Bauchi Darazo road in Ganjuwa LGA of Bauchi State while Conveying two kidnap suspects from Soro Division to State CID Bauchi. As a result, Eight Victims sustained various degrees of injuries”.
“The scene,” according to the PPRO, “was visited by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), and the victims were rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi by a combined team of Police and FRSC officials.
“Six Victims, including two Police officers, two Vigilante members, one complainant and one suspected kidnaper were certified death on arrival by a medical doctor while the driver and another suspect are responding to treatment.”
The PPRO further explained that particulars of the deceased are: AP/ No 151481 Inspector Nuhu Usman, (Soro Division), F/NO 224135 SGT Nasiru Saleh (Soro Division), ALH Shehu, male, (50) of Dabe Village.
Others, he added include Haruna Yawali, male, (35) (Vigilante), Isa Yusufu, male, (27) (Vigilante) and Isa Gambo, male, (20) of Dabe Village (Suspected kidnapper).
DSP Mohammed said that the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary for postmortem examination and investigation is ongoing to ascertain the actual cause.
