A total of 43 Teams are slugging it out to finish tops in the maiden edition of the Kaduna Beach Volleyball Slam which served of at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, on Friday April 21, 2023.
The teams are featuring in four different categories, Senior Male, Senior Female, Junior Boys and Junior Girls.
Speaking to newsmen at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Kaduna State Volleyball Association (KADSVA), Engineer Musa Nimrod said that the competition targeted at discovering young talents to keep Kaduna at the top spot in the country, was organised to fit into available space in the busy calendar of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF).
“As you are aware, our calendar at the NVBF is choked up this year. We are doing this to fit into available space on the calendar, to felicitate with Muslims on the successful completion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Eid-el-Fitr festival,” he said.
Also speaking, Secretary KADSVA, Florence Yori assured that efforts would be made to make the slam an annual event.
On the sponsorship of the slam, Yori informed that it was bankrolled by board members of KADSVA, ably led by Engineer Nimrod.
She used the opportunity to advise youth to engage themselves positively to keep away from vices and be healthy physically and mentally.
“This facility is here for our youth to take advantage of and train themselves at every time convenient,” she added.
When fielding questions, Coordinator of the Sallah Slam, Coach Vincent Unogwu explained that it was organised to bring players together from the three Senatorial Zones of Kaduna State.
