2m Katsîna Children Benefit From Malaria Drugs – Commissioner

 Over 2 million children under the age of five have benefited with malaria drugs in Katsina State, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa has said.
     Speaking during a flag off of distribution of the commodities at the premises of Katsina State Drugs and Medical Supplies Agency, Dr Gambo Saulawa said the strategies of the programme was door to door campaign to reduce mobility and mortality among under five children and pregnant women in the State.
   Dr. Saulawa explained that, the State Government has been committed in providing fifteen per cent counterpart support in all six thematic areas of malaria transmission month of July August, September and October this year.
   He said the pregnant women and under five children wouls be prioritize during the distribution of the commodities at the facilities.
      He emphasized that, Act Quality of over seventy nine thousand plus 

would be given to under five children and pregnant women and about one hundred and twelve thousand malaria rapid diagnostic test would be distributed to children and pregnant women.

  Similarly, he said the beneficiaries of SP Park of three tablets would be pregnant women while Anti Artesunate injection would be given to under five children with severe malaria.
  Also speaking, the State Programme Manager of Malaria elimination Dr. Bishir Adamu assured the distribution of drugs as guided by malaria programme at National and State levels especially during the peak period of the rainy season.
