Police  Confirms Killing Of 4 In Akwa Ibom Cult War

Nigeria Police Command in Akwa Ibom State has said that four persons were killed during a cult clash at Nwaniba axis of Uyo metropolis yesterday.

New Nigerian in Uyo learnt that the clash which started little on Sunday evening between the Red Heart and Lions Confraternity went wild yesterday evening, causing motorists and other passerbys around the two hot zones to scraper for safety.  

The command Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) SP Odiko Macdon in a statement made available to journalists in Uyo, stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olateyo Durosinmi was miffed at the situation.

He explained that during the incident, public order and safety were disrupted with four persons killed.

“While tactical resources have been deployed to restore order and bring out perpetrators,” the police image maker said, adding that the commissioner has condemned the wanton destruction of lives and property by two rival cult groups.

“The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Olatoye Durosinmi is miffed at the disruption of Public Order and Safety by two rival cult groups at Anua Offot and Use Offot, both at Nwaniba in Uyo Local Government Area, leading to the loss of four lives.

“The CP condemned in strong terms the wanton destruction of lives and has vowed to bring perpetrators to book. Hence, he has deployed Tactical resources to restore order and fish out perpetrators.

“The CP has, therefore, called on Residents of the said Communities and Uyo to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation and be assured of their safety because of strategies emplaced.

“He has sent a clear warning to perpetrators of these dastardly acts to desist forthwith or face the dire consequences of their actions.” SP Macdon stated.
