22 Suspects In Police Net Over Murder Of  Inspector

Barely three days after the gruesome murder of Inspector Usang Egbe of ‘C’ Division of Nigeria Police, Akwa Ibom Command, Police  has said that 22 suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime and other related activities.

A statement from the command dated Saturday February 3, said that the arrests were made between  January 31 and  February 2024. 

it added that the command would intensify its onslaught against criminal elements in the state, hence, informed Akwa Ibomites that perpetrators of heinous crimes would be brought to book.

Mentioning other breakthroughs, the  command Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon who signed the statement, added,  “relying on credible intelligence, Anti- Cultism Unit of the Command arrested one Emem Ime Friday, alias BARRACKS, a serial murderer from Mbiaso village in Oruk Anam LGA who masterminded the Inen Clan Cult War.”

According to PPRO, Emem Ime Friday in 2022, orchestrated the gruesome murder of Inen Clan Youth President, one Hezekiah Adaidem, beheaded him and severed his manhood and then fled to Rivers State. 

While in 2020, he allegedly murdered Ufot Unwana on August 8th, Udeme Unwucha and Okon Ubok Udom on 16th September. Other victims on 24th November were Ntiedo Sambo, Eferemfon James and Gilbert Akpan.

He stated that the operatives had earlier, following actionable intelligence, arrested one Emmanuel Francis Daniel aged 33yrs of Otomo village in Ika L.G.A., for killing a-58 year old Emmanuel Jimmy Udoh of Nket Abak village in Ukanafun L.G.A.

MacDon explained the deceased, a Pastor of Jesus Power Ministry in Ikot Esu village also in Ika, was shot to death in the Church by his assailants whom some of them are at large.

Also cooling feet in police custody is one Happiness Isaiah Ekanem ‘f’ and three others of Ikono L.G.A., who allegedly conspired and killed one Imo Isaiah Ekanem ‘m’ aged 32 years of same address by beating him to death and secretly buried the corpse. They have been arrested and investigation ongoing.” MacDon stated.

He assured of the command’s commitment to the peace and safety of all residents of the state.
