The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) former vice president, Atiku Abubakar as the winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Adamawa State.
Announcing the result, the returning officer, Professor Lamun Mele said Atiku emerged the winner of the contest for scoring 417,611.
The candidate of the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu took the second position by polling 182,811 votes, while the candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi polled 105,684 taking the third place.
The returning officer also announced that the state has 2,186,465 registered voters while 764,834 were accredited.
He said a total of 30,481 votes were rejected while 761,621 votes were cast during the election.
New Nigerian reports that Atiku won twenty (20) local government areas, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party got one.
