The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said in Bauchi that had it not been for respect of law, it would have ordered that power be wrestled from the incumbent governor of the state, Governor Bala Mohammed.
The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu said that the party has learnt its lesson after losing the governorship seat in the state in 2019, expressing confidence that they will unseat Mohammed through legitimate means in the forthcoming governorship elections in the state.
Adamu made the statement at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) in Bauchi, venue of the APC gubernatorial campaign flag-off for its candidate, Ambassador Sadique Baba Abubakar, a military turned politician after retirement as Air Marshal of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
According to the national chairman, APC has made adequate arrangements to reconquer Bauchi state comes 2023 general elections, reiterating that the party has vowed to take all elective positions.
He recalled with regret that APC had miscarriage of justice by losing the governorship seat in the 2019 elections, saying “Whatever happened has passed, we are now near to the 2023 elections with fresh slate of contenders”.
Adamu therefore called on Bauchi electorates to cast unprecedented number of votes for all APC candidates in the state, being led by Air Marshall Sadique Baba Abubakar (rtd) as governor of Bauchi and Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President of Nigeria.
“Because of Marshal Abubakar’s abundance of experience and, God willing, if he is elected, the people of Bauchi state would witness strong government and unparalleled growth, particularly with the oil exploration of Bauchi, the state’s fortunes will shift with his election as governor comes 2023 polls”, Adamu said.
“If I Abdullahi Adamu had wanted, I could have say for us collectively and forcefully take over the reign of authority, but chose not to do so for respect of the law. We understand and uphold the law as law-abiding citizens. Inshallah, we will use every legal means to remove the current governor. The 2023 Bauchi governorship election will be won by Air Marshal Baba Abubakar by God’s grace”.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu urged the people of Bauchi state to massively support APC candidates at all level of governance towards establishing a solid foundation for oil and gas exploration in the state.
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate in Bauchi, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar said that his administration if eventually assume the mantle of leadership in the state would evolve a comprehensive economic empowerment programme for youths and women, unlike the distribution of goats to those categories of people as being witnessed today by the incumbent government.
Marshal Baba Abubakar, also an immediate past envoy to the Republic of Chad revealed that under the empowerment programme, youths and women would be exposed to various skills training to not only enable them stands on their feet, but equally become employers of labour, noting with regret that most of the now KEEP beneficiaries have sold the materials given them and were back to square one.
“So we are not talking about the distribution of goats to women and women. There wasn’t any arrangements or plan to those youths and women by the incumbent government to skillfully or by trades put them on sound footing for better livelihood. Our administration by God’s grace will reverse this ugly trend to build a better future for the up-coming youths”, marshal sadique said.
The APC governorship candidate also spoke of his incoming government’s plan to come out with an agricultural revolution geared to educate and energize the youths towards self-sufficiency in food production for the state and the country at large to conserve foreign reserves and improve gross domestic products (GDP).
He assured the people that the APC government in Bauchi come 2023 polls would exploit the vast mineral resources abounds untapped in the state, saying that Bauchi has all it takes to revamp the economy of the country for the betterment of all Nigerians.
