No fewer than 100 Ulamas gathered in Lagos on Sunday to offer fire packed supplications to ensure the victory of the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed and other candidates of the Party in the 2023 General Elections.
The clerics, drawn from different Islamic sects, assembled at the popular Muritala Mosque in Ebite-Metta area of the state, where several verses were read from the quaran, followed with the thunderous prayers for victory for all the APC candidates across the state.
The event, organized by the Arewa Community in Lagos, had in attendance members of the group, who turned out in large numbers from the various Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas across the state.
The leader of the Arewa Community and Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Arch Ahmed Kabir in a chat with our correspondent hinted that the prayer session is usual practice by the group in each election year to seek the face of God for victory.
In addition to the prayers, he disclosed that members of the group have been mobilised to obtain there Permanent Voter cards (PVC), assuring that all the candidates of the APC will emerge victorious during the polls.
On the chances of the APC winning the election inspite stiff opposition, the Commissioner boasted that the great achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari is enough to market the party and its candidates.
Unlike other parties bedeviled with internal crisis, Arch Kabir stressed that the unity and cohesion within the party offers it a brighter chances and an indication of victory, just as he boasted that the APC will win the election with landslide victory.
” We’re here gathered to offer prayers to seek divine favour from almighty Allah for our father, leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential Candidate of our party APC, reelection of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and other candidates of the party in the 2023 General Elections. As you are aware, prayer is key in everything in life and this is what we normally do every election year and it has been working for us.
On the chances of our party winning the election, I can assure you that we are going to record a landslide victory because of the achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari, which remains unequalled. Do you want to talk about the Rail line project across the country, the 2nd Niger bridge amongst others. Is it that of Sanwo-Olu you want to talk about in Lagos. The election for us is a walk over”, the Lagos Commissioner boasted.
The General Secretary of group Alhaji Musa Saleh who also spoke, said the group has embarked on house to house campaign to sensitise its members and collection of their voter cards.
While responding to a question, Saleh quashed the insinuation that the Northerners would vote along ethnic lines, vowing that members of the community are going to vote enmass for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates of the Party.
Another chieftain of the group, Alhaji Muhammed Sharu Kpatako, who is chairman North-Central, in his contribution posited that the Arewa Community in Lagos is ever united to ensure the victory of all the party candidates at the polls.
