2023: Ebonyi Holds Parallel APC Primaries As Two Candidates Emerge

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru and the former Chairman of Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr.Elias Mbam both emerged as APC candidates in parallel elections that took place in different locations in the state.

In one of the  elections that took place at Pa-Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, the Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly emerged as the APC gubernatorial candidate while the second one that took place at Mile 50 layout produced the former Chairman of Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr. Elias Mbam as the winner of the guber primary election that was keenly contested.

At Pa-Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, the result was announced by the Chairman of the Ebonyi State APC gubernatorial primary election committee, Prof. Emmanuel Adebayo. K. and the election process was fully monitored by INEC and the members of the press. 

Announcing the result, the chairman of the electoral committee, Prof. Emmanuel Adebayo declared Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru as the winner of the primary election with a total of 743 votes while Mrs. Rosemary Ofoke Nwogbaga who came second scored 63 votes.

Others are Sen.Julius Ucha, 22 votes; Engr. Elias Mbam 10 votes; Arch Edward Ngwegu, 8 votes; invalid votes, 8.

At Mile 50 layout, where the second parallel election took place, the former Chairman of Revenue Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr. Elias Mbam scored 741 votes to emerge as the winner of the primaries in his own camp.

However, it was gathered that all the candidates who contested for the primary election had run to Abuja to ensure that their own line up was recognized  as the authentic one to produce the guber candidate for the 2023 general elections.
