The Pastor in Charge of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Lakin Awobode on Sunday, asked journalists in the country to be objective in their reports as the general elections is fast approaching

In his sermon at the thanksgiving service marking the beginning of Oyo State NUJ 2022 Press week  held at Ilaji Resort Church chapel in Akanran, Pastor Awobode said there is the need for Nigeria to get the right leaders in 2023.

He maintained that it is only by being objective and fair in their reports that journalists would be able to lead Nigerians aright in the next general elections

The pastor pointed out that the time has come for the Nigerian masses to know what those wishing to lead us in 2023 have for Nigeria and Nigerians in general, saying, “we need a new Nigeria” .

According Pastor Awobode, “the  situation in the country cannot continue like we are presently having it, adding, we cannot continue like this, we need a new Nigeria that will give us hope, things cannot continue this way.”

He maintained that Nigeria as a country is at another crucial stage in its history with the coming 2023 general elections, hence the reason for Nigerians to vote in the right leaders to move the country forward and change its fortunes for good.

Pastor Awobode  pointed out that the time has come for journalists to engage those aspiring to lead the country in public debates, where the masses will  know the worth of each candidate and what they have for the people when elected into office, through debate for all the candidates and those seeking political offices.

Chairman of Ilaji Resort, Engr  Dotun Sanusi while speaking, tasked journalists to rise up to the challenges ahead in the discharge of their day to day activities to build a better and greater Nigeria

Engr Sanusi warned that the media in the country should steer clear of acts capable of misleading the populace by painting  white as black to deceive the masses.

Oyo State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola commended Engineer Sanusi for hosting the NUJ Press week thanksgiving as well as his continuous assistance to the union

The Oyo NUJ Chairman noted that the press week is an annual event for journalists to appreciate God and restrategise for the challenges ahead.
