ZEDA Warns KDSG on shift system in Public Schools

Zaria Education Development Association (ZEDA) has called on Kaduna State Government not to introduce shifting system in public school because of the overpopulation recorded as a result of free education system recently introduced in the State.
 
Addressing a press conference at the ZEDA Headquarters in Zaria, the Chairman Central Working Committee, Dr. Abdul Alimi Bello said, ZEDA as a Non Governmental Organization has fashion in promoting education in the community particularly the primary education.
He said, the association is advising government to build more schools and more classrooms in the existing schools in order to accommodate the teeming pupils who attain school age.
“ZEDA is supporting the State of emergency declared by the Kaduna State government on education, which for a very long time we agitate to the previous administration in the State.”
Dr. Alimi Bello said, now that the State government has given free education from primary school to Junior secondary, it is a very good policy and called on parents to take the advantage by enrolling their children into public schools.
On the quality of education, ZEDA has advised the government to also give training of teachers a priority for a qualitative teaching of pupils.
The association expressed its worry over the low number of qualified mathematics teachers in Kaduna State which stand at 300 only by its survey.
The Central Working Committee Chairman assured the State government of its support particularly in the area of advocacy, enlightenment, educating and sensitizing the communities on the need to have their children educated.
Also ZEDA has offered its science laboratory free for practicals to schools around that don’t have laboratory in their premises.
