Speaking during the one-day exercise, the Coordinator Kaduna State Chapter, Dr. Halima Musa Abdul explained that the medical outreach is part of the activities being carried out by the group which is in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also targeting at supporting the political will of most women and youth in various communities across the nation.
She added that the Women In Politics is specialized in supporting and caring for women and children from the grassroots to the top as part of their agenda to canvas for Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become the next president of Nigeria.
She said, “the programme is aimed at sensitizing women over the importance of their involvement in politics and the need for them to come out and vote for people of their choice, especially the presidential candidate of the APC and other relevant candidates come 2023.”
Dr. Halima informed that the group of doctors and nurses made provision of the foodstuff and drugs given to the over 300 women and children in the community during the exercise, from their savings.
According to her, the Women In Politics is a national political organization that has its head quarters in Abuja, but has various chapters across the 36 states of the federation and which is saddled with the sole aim of creating awareness from the grassroots to the top among women and youth with different supporting activities such as the free medical consultation and free drugs distribution.
She said, “we aim at engaging women into political participation and total inclusiveness in whatever decision to be made at anywhere in the government and today, we’ve decided to embark on advocacy of PVC collection because we believe that without women, there will be no nation and without women there will be no politics, as such, we have decided to give free medical outreach as another way of reaching the women.”
Also speaking at the event, Hajiya Nafisa Muhammad Auwal, from Kaduna North, disclosed that the group is doing a lot in creating awareness and most women are now responding to their plea by not allowing other people collect their PVC’s for other purposes and to stand by their voters card to protect it by not allowing themselves to be used, deceived or mislead.
She said, “through the support of the Jagaban and Uba Sani, many women have agreed to answer our call by coming out in mass and we are here to assist them with their children, while 80% of the activities being carried out are arranged from our own struggles, 20 per cent as support from very few candidates contesting.
While commending the exercise by the group, Maimuna Iliya, co-ordinator of Sabon Gari Zaria said that, she was there in support of the group to ensure that the free medical treatment was given to the poor of the community, while the team has done a great job by ensuring adequate sensitisation is carried out.
“In fact, I am impressed by the way all the activities are being done, starting from the free medical consultation and issuing of drugs, distribution of the foodstuff and creating of awareness amongst the women and youth, while the women are being organized in a calm and orderly situation.”
According to her, as long as the women are showing concern towards the APC government and are being supportive, definitely more benefiting opportunities will be coming their way and that they are urging them to vote for all the APC flag bearers from the grassroots to the top to enable them secure a better future.
Meanwhile, some of the beneficiaries, Farida Kabiru and Lawisa Abdullahi expressed joy and satisfaction over the activities, while thanking the Women In Politics for reaching out to them, considering that if they are to purchase the foodstuff and drugs at various hospitals, it might cost them more than their expectations.
