Zaria Educational Development Authority (ZEDA) has established a modern digital training and examination centre with 100 work stations to meet the current digital age in the educational development.
The Secretary General, Dr. Isah Abbas stated this at a press conference organized in preparation for the 25th anniversary annual general meeting of the association.
He said, the provision of modern ICT facilities and training must be taken seriously.
According to him, the expansion of the project for additional 150 workstation has been reached over 80 percent completion or when completed, the centre will provide training in various ICT fields and will serve as computer based test (CBT) centre for examination.
On the remedial training, in the last 25 years, ZEDA has been able to provide remedial training to over 3,000 secondary school leavers to enable them remedy their O/level examinations results for higher education.
He said, more than 80 per cent have been able to pursue their educational pursuit in Nigerian universities and polytechnics
Furthermore, the vocational training for youths on skills development ZEDA provided opportunities to over 500 youths on various trades which includes, welding, carpentry, furniture’s making, mechanic among others.
The association has with the supply of some prominent indigens established a 12 classroom for its model nursery and primary school which is expected to commence in 2018/2019 academic session.
Speaking on the challenges faced by ZEDA, is the issue of finance and all of the success achieved in the association in the last 25 years were recorded mainly due to the associations BOT and CWC as well the support from the media.
The AGM will begin with public lecture on Friday to be delivers by Prof. Abdullahi Mahdi former Vice Chancellor A.B.U, Zaria and the discussant is Prof. Ango Abdullahi former vice Chancellor A.B.U, Zaria while the AGM comes up on Saturday with special Guest of Honour Governor Tanko Almakura od Nasarawa State and former Nigeria Head of State General Abdulsalam Abubakar as Chairman and Malam Nasiru El-Rufai Kaduna State Governor is the Chief Host.
The AGM will hold at Kongo Conference Hall, Zaria.
