Nigerians have continued to react to the constant killings in Zamfara State, blaming the Federal Government for not doing enough and playing mere lip service.
The cry is that the deployment of 1,000 security men is not enough and that if the federal government can deploy 30,000 policemen to Ekiti State for the recent governorship election, it shows that the government is insensitivity to the plight of the masses.
Reacting to the situation, Mr. Clement Amadi a lawyer and media practitioner, said the governor of the state Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari should be questioned for his inability to put the situation under control.
According to him, “as chief security officer of the state, he should have first hand security report of happenings in his state. He should liaise with the police commissioner to find a way around the problem.”
He said the governor since he has no control over the police chief, the best thing to do is to resign. This Zurmi local government killings is the making of selfish politicians and they should be arrested and prosecuted.
In his response, Mr. Bello Kauje a teacher based in Kaduna believes the government isn’t doing enough as it has failed in all their electoral promises and must be voted out come 2019.
“The president promised Nigerians a better life with all basic amenities assured including security owing to the menace of the dreaded Boko Haram in North Eastern part of the country, yet we hear on a daily basis about killings of soldiers and civilians. The case is pathetic and deserve urgent attention. Which country will bury hundreds on a daily basis and the president is only interested in his reelection,” he queried.
On her part, Mrs. Elizabeth Okoye a business woman who lives in Zaria, urged the government to increase security details to the state and called on politicians to stop using and dumping political thugs who later become terrorists as pay back.
“They dump these thugs and in anger of been dumped turn back and become terrorists”, she added.
It would be recalled that in recent times armed bandits have overrun some villages in Zamfara and Sokoto states prompting President Muhammadu Buhari to deploy 1,000 military officers to the state.
