Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar has signed into law the 2018 proposed budget of N133,791,068,950 into law.
Signing the budget at Government House, Gusau, Yari promised the full implementation of the policies contained in the proposed budget.
The governor said administration would boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to enable the state achieve it potentials.
Earlier the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji said after careful scrutiny of the budget presented before the House N3 billion was added to it in consideration of expected ecological funds payment to states by the federal government.
It will be recalled that while presenting the 2018 proposed budget at the State House of Assembly Complex, governor Yari said the new budget had an increase of N23,031,775,905 against the 2017 budget of N107,759,293,045.
Yari said out of N130,791,068,950 proposed 2018 estimates, the sum of N46,449,068,950, which represents 35.5%, is earmarked for Recurrent expenditure; while the sum of N84,342,000,000, which represents 64.5%, is for Capital expenditure.
He added that the economic sector which consists of agriculture, livestock, forestry, manufacturing, power-supply, transport, commerce, cooperatives and finance receives of N33.4 Billion with transport having the highest sum of N20.8 Billion while the Social Sector which includes education, health, information, youth and social welfare got N21.34 Billion with Education receiving the highest allocation of N13.32 Billion followed by Health with N5.1Billion.
The governor added that the Environment Sector is allocated the sum of N22.1Billion to carter for water, drainages, housing, town planning and community development with Town Planning taking the highest allocation of N15. 8Billion.
