Yuletide: Senator Sani offsets medical bills of 40 patients
By; Alex Uangbaoje, Kaduna.
In the spirit of Yuletide, Senator Shehu Sani has 0ffset the medical bills of forty patients currently on admission at Saint Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna.

Sani who is the Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone undertook this on Monday when he paid  ‘a get well’ visit to patients in the hospital and to present them with gift items.

‎”I will use the opportunity of this visit to write off the medical bills of forty patients in this hospital, and also to write off bills of those that are in the emergence ward now. I will work it out with the management of this hospital to see the bills so as to effect immediate payment.” Senator Sani said.

‎He revealed that, he is working on a bill that will make the poorest of the poor Nigerians to benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) adding that the program should not be only for the workers and employees only.

Sani further said all Nigerian’s must benefit from any programs of the government without discrimination. “I will present a bill before the Upper Chamber to correct these abnormalities. We are all citizens of this country and like other countries everybody must benefit from the program.

“Let me use this opportunity to say it is painful that people in leadership position still travel to foreign countries with their family for medical attention that can be gotten in the country. This is a leakage that we have to block.

“This Hospital has been in Kaduna for long time and has been providing medical assistant to all irrespective of their faith, and as a Senator representing this zone, I am here during this yuletide season and what I saw was not too good and I called on the wealthy in the country to spend some of their resources on people in the hospital,” he said.
