YSFON/CNS championship ends

The final of this year’s annual Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria organized Chief of Naval Staff U-14 boys and Naval Officers Wives Association U-17 girl’s football competition will be decided today, at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Abuja.
Tournaments’ favoorite Enugu which has lived up to its rating before the championship will face Benue state to decide who amongst them will emerge this year’s champion.
To get to the finals, Enugu State defeated FCT 2-1 in the first semi- final while Benue recorded a 1-0 victory over Edo State to book a place in today’s final.
In the female category, Delta which recorded an emphatic 2-0 victory over Benue will confront FCT which defeated Lagos in a one sided semi- final match to decide who emerges the women champion.
 
National President of YSFON, Nasiru Gawuna has expressed happiness with the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by the teams just as he promised that the Federation will continue many competitions aimed at grassroots football development in the country.
Meanwhile, Vice President North Central of YSFON, Mustapha Allahdey has commended the outstanding performances of some individual players positing that it is an indication that Nigeria boasts of abundant talents in the grassroots.
“I am highly delighted with the football skills exhibited by some players such as; Umoru Monsuru from Edo state, Samuel Amusan and Isaac Abu from Osun State. Honestly these players mentioned are talented and can be well monitored and nurtured for the future.
 
“With what I have seen from this championship, I have no doubt in my mind that Nigeria has abundant talents in the grassroots and we at YSFON will not relent in our efforts at developing football at the grassroots which the Federation is noted for”, he concluded.
