The Chairman of Auyo Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Alhaji Umar Musa Kalgwai has said that the award of Soccer Diploma presented to him by the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) will spur him on to do more for sports development in the LGA, Jigawa State and Nigeria.
He expressed this after receiving the award at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Saturday.
He said he was elated and grateful for the award.
Kalgwai said that he was happy that they came all the way from Jigawa and won their match in Kaduna 2-0 on Saturday.
He prayed for more success for the team in the future.
In his remarks, National Technical Director YSFON, Alhaji Abdulgafar Agboola said that YSFON was founded in 1965 in Lagos, to discover talents at the grassroots, catching them young below the age of 18.
“YSFON produced all the players of the first Golden Eaglets.
“We organise programmes in all sports both locally and nationally. YSFON is a big organisation formed to discover talents.
“We believe the award will spur the chairman and his cabinet to do more, not just for football or in Jigawa, but Nigeria,” he said.
Top dignitaries that witnessed the award presentation are Zonal Coordinator North West, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusola Luke represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, Secretary Auyo LGA, Alhaji Abbas Makama, Deputy HOD Auyo LGA, Alhaji Yusuf Samaila and the Kaduna State YSFON Secretary, Mallam Abdulrazak Usman.
