Youths in Zaria demands realease of murder suspect from Police for reprisal

Youths from Unguwar Jushi in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State Tuesday stormed a Police Divisional Headquarters in Zaria City, demanding the release of a suspect in their custody Yusuf Abubakar to take revenge on him for killing their friend Aminu Badamasi.
The aggrieved youths stormed the Police Station in their hundreds from the burial ground where the deceased was buried.
Investigation by our Correspondent revealed the suspect was said to have allegedly killed the deceased for mediating in misunderstanding between one Aminu Indomie and one Dini over a N500 Aminu was owing Dini.
Further investigation revealed that the deceased advised the debtor to pay the creditor his money in the interest of peace. Instantly the suspect started abusing the deceased, asking him why was he mediating, in the process brought out a knife and stabbed him in stomach which left him in his pool of blood.
The suspect was not able to escape as he was overpowered by the deceased’s brother, Balarabe Badamasi and good Samaritans in the area and handed him over to a Police outpost before he was transfered to the Division for investigation and prosecution.
 
The aggrieved youths demanded the release of the suspect to take revenge for fear of his possible release on bail by the Police as they alleged.
 
Our Correspondent in the area reports that the suspect had been transfered to the State Police Command after dispersing the protesting youths with teargas.
 
Confirming the incident, the State Police Command spokesman, ASP Aliyu Usman said the suspect has been transfered to the state command and investigation was ongoing.
