Youths are dynamic force for social transformation – el-Rufai

The Commissioner of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr. Daniel Danauta has said that the Kaduna State Government led by Governor Nasir el-Rufai places premium on youth development and is implementing several programmes to build their capacity in the state, just as he has described them as a dynamic force for transformation.
 
Mr Danauta expressed this in a message sent to the One Day Capacity Building Training for 85 Youth Development Staff and Youth Leaders Across the 23 Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, held at the VIP Hall, Murtala Square on Tuesday.
 
“The government of Malam Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai has placed high premium on its youth because they are dynamic force for social transformation and rural community development,” he said.
He explained that it was in an effort to better life and re-position the youth in the state recently that the staff of the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture and other sectors of youth development were trained on the international best practices on monitoring and evaluation and development of a framework in the social development sector with an action plan developed.
 
He expressed optimism that the aim of the workshop would be achieved.
 
“I am indeed delighted to be here with you today for the one day capacity building training workshop and am sure the objectives of the training as put forward by the Youth Development Department will be realize and that can only happen if you pay attention and make meaningful contributions,” he said.
 
The Commissioner congratulated them  for the opportunity of attending the workshop, while  urging them to put  the knowledge acquired during the training  to bear when the get back to their various communities, while emphasizing that training and re-training is part of the administration’s commitment to youth development in the state.
 
Speaking during an interview with newsmen, Director Youth in the ministry, Mrs. Cecilia Bagu expressed satisfaction with the topics presented by the resource persons.
 
She said that the Kaduna State Government knows that the youth are the backbone of the community and if ignored will spell dire consequences.
 
“When you fail to plan for the youth, they plan for you and you might not like what the outcome of their plans will be to the society,” she stressed.
 
Some of the resource persons that presented papers at the workshop are Mrs. Comfort J. Bangoji who presented a paper on ‘Roles of Youth Development Workers as Agents of Change’ and Mrs. Gladys John presented on ‘Appraisal and Benefit of National Youth Policy’.
