By: Tina Phineas,Yola.
The death toll of Tuesday’s Jambutu tipper garage bomb blast in Yola Adamawa State has risen to thirty Four (34) while sixty four (64) are still receiving medical treatment at Yola Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Centre Yola .
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) State Coordinator Mr. Sa’ad Bello confirmed to the Media in Yola that the toll has reached 34 as at Wednesday afternoon.
It could be recalled that a suspected suicide bomber detonated a bomb killing many and injuring multitude at about 7.52pm Tuesday evening in tipper garage at the Mubi byepass in Jimeta.
Reports at the blast scene revealed that, the bomber pretended to be a wealthy man who was there to share money to the less privilege at the garage where people usually converge to eat and partake in night marketing of vegetables, fruits and other food stuffs.
Similarly, a woman who escaped Tuesday’s bomb blast at tipper garage revealed she survived it due to her instincts which made her ran away from the scene before the blast.
The woman said she hawks food at the tipper garage where the blast occurred.
She said shortly before the blast occurred, a stranger came to the garage and started sharing N500 notes attracting large crowd of people who scampered instantaneously to get a share of the money.
“My instincts told me to get away from the scene as fast as I could as I knew going there to collect the money is not a wise idea.
“I quickly left the scene as I repressed my greed knowing that it is unwise to gather around a complete stranger to collect money considering the security risks associated with the venture,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of Federal Medical Center Yola Mallam Muhammadu Dodo told our correspondent that so far, 7 victims of the blast have been treated and discharged from the hospital.
He noted that other victims are receiving treatment and are in stable conditions noting that in the wake of the blast, the management has recalled all medical personnel to attend to the victims.
