Former Nigerian President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) has been called upon to author a book to tell his life story and set certain insinuations about him right.

The Emir of Birnin Gwari, His Highness Zubairu Jibrin Maigwari II made this call in Kaduna Saturday during the launch of the book “Ancestral Farewell” written by a Journalist with Media Trust, Dickson Adama Salami.
Maigwari said IBB as he is popularly called has been accused of so many things and called many unprintable names.
The authoring of a book to tell his own story and set the record straight will be a better way of righting the wrongs, aiding others to defend him and ensure posterity is fair to him, the Emir asserted.
He decried the dearth of reading culture as well as writing which he said older people are neglecting. He encouraged the younger generation to take on the culture of writing as a means of save-guarding the rich cultural heritage of any society.
He also urged the Nigerian Government to come up with culture ambassadors to take the rich culture of the people to the nook and crannies of the world.
The Emir stressed that Nigeria without cultural heritage is doomed. The book, Ancestral Farewell he added is about culture and as a custodian of culture, he had little or no option not to chair the book lunch.
He applauded the author for making time out of the tight schedule of a Journalist to author the culture rich book. Culture, he asserted should be elastic and not rigid.
Also speaking, Mallam Balarabe Ahmed, a lecturer with Kaduna Polytechnic said the society has lost most of its cherished values, hence some of the vices today. He stressed that until the society returns to such values, progress would be a burden.
He called for the revival of oral communication through the speaking of the mother tongue, reading and writing to which the society relies on authors such as Adama to aide with.
The book reviewer, Professor Solomon Omayiwa decried the neglect of the youth in scale of things, stressing that any society that neglect such demography of its population would always encounter greater challenges. He revealed that the crop of current authors and readers allow alien culture to influence their ideology which he asserted should not be so.
The book “Ancestral Farewell” of 206 pages divided into 24 chapters with a foreword by Professor Umaru Pate.
